A New Chapter: The Collaboration Between Château Le Pin Beausoleil and Thomas Duclos

Een nieuw hoofdstuk: de samenwerking van Château Le Pin Beausoleil met Thomas Duclos

27.03.2024

In the world of wine, change is the only constant. Just as the seasons change and the vines bear fruit, so do the paths of those who shape the flavors we cherish. At Château Le Pin Beausoleil, we recently bid farewell to a friend and valued partner of our winery – a man whose expertise and passion have shaped our vineyards for almost two decades.

Stéphane Derenoncourt: a legacy within Château Le Pin Beausoleil

Stéphane Derenoncourt, our esteemed wine consultant, was an essential part of our journey. His refined taste, unwavering dedication, and profound understanding of the terroir have elevated our wines to new heights. From the sun-drenched slopes of our vineyards to the cool cellars where the oak barrels reveal their secrets, Stéphane and his team, especially Julien Lavenu, have left an indelible mark on our winery.

For more than twenty years, he guided us through countless vintages, blends, and delicate decisions. His advice went beyond the professional – it was personal. The Derenoncourt team knew every vine, every plot, as if they were old friends. Since his marriage on our estate, a close bond has grown, leading to more than 25 vintages produced under the leadership of Stéphane Derenoncourt and his team. A large part of our success is due to his tireless efforts.

A toast to farewell

Last summer, Stéphane brought news that evoked feelings of joy and melancholy. He had decided to embark on new adventures and hand over the management of the Derenoncourt consulting firm to the team he had built himself, which has now become his successor.

As this news spread in Bordeaux, we gathered in our tasting room, glass in hand, to toast Stéphane. His departure was met with mixed feelings – a mixture of pride and nostalgia. But we also felt it was time for a new chapter, for new inspiration and energy.

Thomas Duclos and Château Le Pin Beausoleil: a harmonious collaboration

As Stéphane bid farewell, we asked Thomas Duclos and Oenoteam – known for their innovative approach and pursuit of perfection – to guide us in the future. After a very constructive meeting with him, a new collaboration was established.

Thomas Duclos is a rising star in enological consulting. Over the past decade, he has built a reputation as one of the best consultants in Bordeaux. He works with several leading wineries, including Château Canon and Château Troplong Mondot. Since 2012, he has been active as an advisory oenologist and has since made a name for himself. His passion and expertise enrich the wine world, and his collaboration with the renowned Oenoteam is very promising.

During our first meetings, we immediately felt a strong connection – the chemistry was perfect. Together, we are now on our way to new adventures, with the aim of creating one of the best wines of Bordeaux, harnessing our exceptional terroir in the style of Saint-Émilion.

A grateful harvest

At Château Le Pin Beausoleil, we honor the legacy of Stéphane Derenoncourt and his team. His departure is not a loss, but a transformation – a vine bearing new fruits elsewhere. As the spring buds emerge, we raise our glasses again. Stéphane Derenoncourt, may your journey be as rich and captivating as the wines you have created. And to Thomas Duclos and Oenoteam: may our collaboration at Le Pin Beausoleil produce vintages that stand the test of time. Our vineyards are subject to change, but the roots remain. Stéphane, wherever your path may lead, know that you are forever rooted in our terroir. Santé!

Château Le Pin Beausoleil remains committed to creating exceptional wines that reflect the soul of our terroir. Our heritage lives on, guided by tradition and driven by innovation.
